Privacy Policy

Welcome to the official web site of the House Republican Organization (“HRO”).  The HRO values your right to privacy, especially online. This privacy policy has been created to inform you of the HRO’s data collection, use and protection policies associated with this web site.

The only personal information collected by the HRO is the information you provide to us.  In order to grow our Republican community online, we may ask you to submit information. This information will be used to provide you with information about online events, media appearances and opportunities, current political issues, and other Republican related information. You do not have to provide this information – we only ask that you do so that we can better communicate with you!

Some information must be collected when you make a contribution. When you make a contribution to the HRO we will ask for your name and address.  When you make contributions that aggregate over $500 in a quarter, we will ask for your occupation and the name and address of employer as well.

Like many site operators, we collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our site (“Log Data”).  This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s IP address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our web site that you visit, the time spent on those pages, and similar statistics.

We ask that children under 18 do not submit any information on our web site. In accordance with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), the HRO does not knowingly collect information from children, and will never knowingly collect personal identifiable information from persons thirteen years old or younger.

Protecting information you provide is important to us.  We make every effort to protect your information from the moment you enter your information to when it is stored on our secure servers.  Strict security measures are in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of any and all personal information.  The HRO has put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to prevent unauthorized access.

From time to time, our web site may contain links to other websites and servers. The HRO does not bear responsibility for privacy policies or content on linked websites.  Because the HRO has no control over the websites we link to, you agree and acknowledge that the HRO is not responsible for the availability of resources or external sites and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content provided therein. Accordingly, you also agree and acknowledge that the HRO will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance of any such content, services on or through any such site or resource or goods. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on each website you visit. The HRO provides links to original articles written and maintained by third parties. These links are provided as a convenience and do not imply a claim of ownership in that content.

The HRO may allow third parties to place cookies on our site for advertising purposes.  This Online Privacy Statement does not cover the collection methods or use of the information collected by these vendors. These vendors have their own privacy policies and may be members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”).  To remove yourself from some or all NAI member advertising programs, please visit the NAI Opt-Out Page and follow the relevant instructions.  Please note that if you delete, block, or otherwise restrict cookies, or if you use a different computer or Internet browser, you may need to renew your opt-out choice.

Notwithstanding anything else in this policy, we or a data provider we have engaged may place or recognize a unique cookie on your browser to enable you to receive customized ads or content.   These cookies contain no personally identifiable information.  The cookies may reflect de-identified demographic or other data linked to data you voluntarily have submitted to us, e.g., your email address, that we may share with a data provider solely in hashed, non-human readable form. To opt-out of these cookies, please go to http://www.aboutads.info/choices.

While we intend to ever make changes to this privacy policy sparingly, circumstances may arise that may cause us to do so, and we therefore reserve the right to revise or update this privacy policy at any time.
